I am unable to print or Scan with either of the HP Printers I have 8710 is just a black brick! I wish Apple would at least roll out the new software beta versions to major manufactures like HP so there devices are up to date. If HP can't keep up I will switch to a different brand! I also hate App based crap, happens all the time on different devices TV, Phone, iPad frankly I think apps suck ass! 😉 New Printer Software that some one suggests was last updated in 2020?

In fact the solution of install drivers from the link below works, but need a few additional steps !
After installing the driver, delete your printer in settings on your Mac.
Then, try to add it again, but when you add it, before clicking on "add" button, select the driver in the last dropdown (use...), and search for your hp series.
Like, in my example, when I select my printer, macOS choose automatically HP envy 4520 series.
Before installing the drivers from the link, if I click on the "select software" in the dropdown, and search for "envy" , nothing.
After installing, I had : envy 4500 e-printer ..., I select this, add the printer, and it works !

On Sonoma, I have the same problem and both USB and Wireless don't work on our Officejet 5280, even after downloading HP Smart from the App Store, which is listed as compatible. AirPrint does not work either.

Using HP LasterJet MFP M130fw
and
OfficeJet 8710 Pro both are bricks because neither will now work. They seem like they will work but there is not communication to the printers, and the 8710 should be able to print in just black and it won't even do that.
