Hi,
I just set up the new computer - HP Slimline Desktop PC 270-p0x - all fine until I tried to print. The printer wasn't recognized, so I went to the download section at HP; I have tried several times, but the download always ends at 99%. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks

Full Feature Software for your Printer:
HP Officejet 7310xi - HP Photosmart and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers
How-to-install video help is available near the bottom of the Software and Drivers support page
Commentary
The printer software, although it is rated for Windows 10, is quite old. It may have issues in spite of the "rating" to run on your new Windows 10 Operating System.
Nonetheless, the installation package should at least download to the computer -- I should think that issues you see later (if you do have problems) should not be apparent just trying to get the package onto your computer.
Consider / Try
- Try using a different browser for the download. For example, if you are using Edge, try Chrome or Firefox
- Restart everything, including your router to ensure a "clean slate" (nothing weird going on in the network connection)
Nothing works - Piles of Rubbish
If all else fails, consider using the Add-a-Printer procedure to install the printer using Windows built-in drivers. Add-a-Printer / Windows drivers provide basic print function.
Description: This document is for HP printers that do not have a full feature HP driver for Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista.
If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver.
If the full feature software does not install or if the software does not work as hoped, use the Add a Printer procedure to look for and install Windows drivers for the printer. Assuming THIS works, you may at least have limited print function.
- NOTE: The “Full Feature Software” solution for older printers may not work in Windows 10 Fall Creators – Please use Windows Update to install your printer: HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
Example – Add a Printer
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer
Click The printer that I want isn’t listed
Click Add a Local or Network Printer…
Click Next
Choose a Printer Port menu:
Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1: (Printer Port)
[ NOTE for USB: Look for USB001 or other USB00# > Select the highest Port listed ]
Install the Printer menu:
Left column: HP
Right column: Scroll, search, select (click) printer
And / or if your Printer is not found in list:
Click Windows Updates
Wait several minutes for list to update

[ NOTE for USB: Look for USB001 or other USB00# > Select the highest Port listed ]
Click Yes to “…allow this app to make changes to your device” (UAC)
