I'm trying to setup the scan to email function for this printer. Whenever I try to setup the outgoing profile, I get either a test failure or it comes back to say that the incorrect username or password have been entered, which is not the case. The following is the current setup: SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com SMTP Port: 587 Always user secure connection (SSL/TLS) - Currently selected. SMTP server requires authentication for outgoing e-mail messages. - This is selected company email address email password Option PIN section not completed When tested just now I get the following error: "Username or password is incorrect. Ensure both user account and password are valid." I'm on Windows 10 64bit, with printer HP Color LaserJet MFP M277dw. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

Hi @ZohraAlidji,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you are encountering issues with the scan-to-email setup on your HP Color LaserJet MFP M277dw printer using an Office 365 SMTP server. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Verify Office 365 Account Credentials:
- Double-check the username and password you entered for the Office 365 account. Make sure there are no typos, and the credentials are correct.
- Ensure that your Office 365 account is active and not locked.
App Password (if Two-Factor Authentication is enabled):
- If your Office 365 account has Two-Factor Authentication enabled, you might need to generate an "App Password" specifically for the printer. Log in to your Office 365 account settings and create an App Password. Use this password in the printer setup instead of your regular password.
SMTP Server and Port:
- Ensure that the SMTP Server is set to smtp.office365.com and the port is set to 587.
- Confirm that the option for "Always use secure connection (SSL/TLS)" is selected.
SMTP Authentication:
- Double-check that the option "SMTP server requires authentication for outgoing e-mail messages" is selected.
Network Connection:
- Ensure that the printer is connected to the network properly and has internet access.
- Check if there are any firewall or security settings on your network that might be blocking the printer's communication.
Firmware Update:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can address compatibility issues and improve functionality.
Diagnostic Tools:
- Some printers have diagnostic tools or logs that can provide more detailed information about the error. Check if your printer has such tools and review any error logs for more information.
Alternative SMTP Server:
- As a test, you might consider using an alternative SMTP server (if available) to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to the Office 365 configuration.
Option PIN Section:
- Ensure that any required PIN section in the printer's settings is completed correctly.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with the scan-to-email function on your HP Color LaserJet MFP M277dw printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
