Printer Margins

I have an HP ENVY Photo 6220. It's brand new. I want to print as close to the edge of the paper as possible but cannot find anywhere for me to change the margins? It prints closer to the left and right margins than it does to the top and bottom. Can you help?

The printer supports Borderless printing and smaller margins on all sides.

Borderless Printing

Yes (up to 8.5 x 11 in, 216 x 297 mm)

Print Margin Bottom (A4)	3 mm
Print Margin Left (A4)	3 mm
Print Margin Right (A4)	3 mm
Print Margin Top (A4)	3 mm

Margins are generally changed / managed in the original document format.

For example,

Adjust document margins in Word to not smaller than the smallest supported margin for the printer (3mm)

All information on the page - including page borders / footers / headers / page numbers / other field data - must be inside that margin.

If you have not done so... do install the printer software in addition to HP Smart.

Installing the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software provides access to the full range of printer features, including printing from a web browser, other print / editing software, and from within Word documents.

Download and save the installation package to your computer

Basic Instructions - Install the Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software

• If using VPN, shut it off to install software
• If the printer software is still / already installed, uninstall it from Programs and Features > Restart the computer and log in – Reference Uninstall HP printer software and drivers

Reminder:  Windows > Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.

• Download and Save the Full Feature Software installation package or the Easy Start Software
• Open File Explorer
• Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file  (likely Downloads)
• Reminder:  If using USB cable between printer and computer, disconnect the cable before installing software.
• Right-Click on the installation package and “Run as Administrator”
• If using Easy Start > When asked, opt for "Full Driver" (exact wording might vary).
• If using Easy Start > Skip any extra software / offers you do not want (wording varies).
• After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Preparation > Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default

Photo Printing

Image printing is similar in that when borders are used, they can only be "so small".

Depending on which software / application is used to view and submit the job to the printer, there are different rules about setup.

For example, margins are impacted by how the Scaling is set

Crop fills the space and evens the borders

OR

Shrink to fit prints the whole content but will create blank spaces when the shape of the original image does not exactly match the shape of the paper.
