HP OfficeJet Pro Premier
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This printer has stopped working from my Microsoft Surface Pro. The scanner still works and the printer works from both my other devices, but it just won't print from the Surface Pro. In the HP Smart App on the Surface Pro it shows that the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series is Ready with the right ink levels showing.  When I try and print it says: "Install to Print: The selected printer is detected but not installed completely on your Windows system.  Please install the printer driver to print from this computer." When I click install printer it it states "There was a problem during installation. To manually install the printer driver do 1..., 2...., 3.... including choose the printer from the list. When I do this it takes me to the Scanner Settings page and there is nowhere I can see that I can download or install anything related to the printer?? FYI The only difference from my laptop (which is working) in the Printer Information is that the Installation Status is: Not Installed (rather than Installed).  Can anyone help?

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to print from your surface pro, I am glad to assist you.

This seems to be a driver issue.

Uninstall the printer driver from the root level and reinstall the printer to fix the issue

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install the printer using the HP Smart app

Keep me posted.
