I tried all of these steps (took me about 1.5 hours to complete) and still got the same error.
I'm using Windows 10.
This issue did not start after an update. It just started one day.
I can use the scanner on the printer.
I can use the fax on the printer.
I used all USB ports on my computer.
I tried a different USB on all same USB ports.
I tried with different computer that had never connected to this printer. Same issue, even after installing all driver software.
This is the second HP OfficeJet Pro 6835 I've owned. This issue happened two months after I bought it. Back then HP just gave me a new one.
Any ideas on how to fix this one other than what you've listed above.
