I need to clean my printheads but the utility allows me to select my printer but then keeps cycling a screen that flashes that it is connecting, but never does?

A warm welcome to HP Community!

Performing a power cycle and then removing/re-adding the printer in HP Utility may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1) Turn off your Mac.

2) Remove the power cord and USB cable from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

3) Plug the power cord back into the printer

4) Wait for the printer to turn on completely

5) Turn on Mac.

6) Open HP printer Utility.

7) Select the printer and then click the minus sign  located on the bottom left to delete the printer.

😎 Plug the USB cable back into the printer.

9) Click the plus sign  on HP Utility and select the listed Photosmart C4780.

Let me know how it goes!
