Hello,

I recently changed my modem/router, and have not been able to connect my 4158 to WiFi ever since.  I have tried everything that's been recommended to me.  Would there be any advice as to what my router settings need to be, to connect successfully?  What are the ideal security and firewall settings?  Could there be any automatic roadblocks caused my a more recent model/router upgrade?  Any help is welcome.  Thank you!

Hi @DanFe

You may need to setup your new Wifi network to provide a 2.4G connection, because Deskjet printers are more compatible to work with 2.4G networks.

And then follow steps from the next video to setup your printer:

Thank you for your reply!  Yes, I have been using my 2.4 band when doing the setup.  I will try once again trying to duplicate what was done in the video.

Generally speaking, is it possible that older printers such as this are not very well compatible with newer Wifi technology?  Could that be the issue?  Would a new HP printer have an easier time connecting to my newer WiFi technology?

Alternatively, are there any WiFi settings (aside from choosing the 2.4 band) that may need to altered?  Turn certain things on/off?  Security, firewall, etc?

Thanks again for your help!

Hi @DanFe

Ok, just try again the steps in the video and let me know if that works for you.

1. For Deskjet printers, yes it could be the issue, that older printers are not "behaving" very well (disconnections) when using Mesh networks that provides both 5G and 2.4G.

2. And yes, new HP printers are able to connect to new mesh network routers.

3. Depending on you network provider, you may need to check if that 2.4g network are able to setup your 2.4g network to a 802.11 b/g only mode (basic network).
