HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer

I cannot print wirelessly through the HP Smart app anymore. I'm printed a principal from the Smart app off the laptop. HP Smart shows my printer available and ready on my laptop. But it will not show it at all on my phone. It is connected to Wi-Fi the signal is strong. I have restarted it. I have forgotten the device but now unfortunately I can't find it anymore. I don't know what to do. It still shows it on the laptop HP smart app. Just not on my phone. I don't know what the issue is.

Hi @Sparks2dope

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is connected to Wi-Fi and shows as available on your laptop but not on your phone in the HP Smart app, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

1. Check App Permissions

  • Ensure that the HP Smart app has the necessary permissions to access your network. Go to your phone’s settings and check the app permissions.

2. Ensure Both Devices Are on the Same Network

  • Verify that your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer. Sometimes, devices can connect to different bands (2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz), which can cause detection issues.

3. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Power off the printer, unplug it for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Phone: Restart your phone to refresh its network connections.

4. Update the HP Smart App

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your phone. Check the app store for updates.

5. Re-add the Printer in HP Smart

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone.
  • Tap the "+" icon to add a new printer. The app should search for available printers. If it finds your printer, follow the prompts to add it.

6. Reset Network Settings on the Printer

  • You can reset the network settings on your printer to help it reconnect. Look for the network setup options on the printer’s control panel to restore default settings.

7. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Use the HP Smart app on your laptop to check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Keeping the firmware updated can resolve connectivity issues.

8. Check Router Settings

  • Ensure that your router is not blocking the printer. Sometimes, security settings can prevent devices from communicating. You may want to check the router’s admin panel for any settings that might affect connectivity.

9. Try a Different Device

  • If possible, try installing the HP Smart app on another mobile device to see if it can detect the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
