When I attempt to print a copy, the following message is displayed on the printer window:
"Connect printer to update HP instant Ink status."
I no longer have a subscription with Instant Ink. Account was canceled on 08/28/2024.
I do not want to select the connect option. The only way I can continue to print a document is to select OK. How would I remove the HP Instant Ink status message from displaying?

Hi @AZ-Sunshine,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you are seeing a message about HP Instant Ink on your printer and you no longer have a subscription, you can follow these steps to remove or bypass the Instant Ink status message:
1. Remove Instant Ink Software
- Uninstall Instant Ink Software: If you have any HP Instant Ink software installed on your computer, uninstall it.
- Windows: Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, find the HP Instant Ink software, and uninstall it.
- Mac: Go to Applications, find the HP Instant Ink software, and drag it to the Trash.
2. Update Printer Firmware
- Check for Updates: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve issues related to Instant Ink.
- Windows/Mac: You can usually update the firmware through the HP Smart app or the HP printer’s web interface.
3. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults
If the above steps don't work, you might need to reset your printer to its factory settings. This can remove any cached Instant Ink settings:
- Factory Reset:
- HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device, select your printer, and look for the option to perform a factory reset.
- Printer Control Panel: Navigate to the Settings menu on your printer, find Printer Maintenance or Setup, and look for an option to restore factory settings.
4. Remove Instant Ink Account Information
- Printer Web Interface:
- Access Printer Web Interface: Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your printer (you can find this IP address on the printer’s display under network settings).
- Login: Login to the printer’s web interface using the default admin credentials or those set by you.
- Check Settings: Look for any settings related to Instant Ink and remove or update them.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
