Hello, I have an HP Envy 6052e printer that I bought in 2020. I recently moved and cannot set it up in my new apartment… The printer has disappeared enitirely from my HP Smart app, and whenever I try the “add new printer” function, it doesn’t seem to work. It is not currently connected to WiFi, but I am unable to set it up due to these issues.

Hi @kac198,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're facing a couple of issues with your HP Envy 6052e printer after moving to a new apartment. Let's troubleshoot step by step to get your printer connected to WiFi and visible in the HP Smart app again:

Troubleshooting Steps:

Restart Your Printer and Router:

  • Begin by turning off your printer and unplugging it from the power source. Also, restart your WiFi router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
  • Once the router has restarted, power on your printer and allow it to initialize.

Check WiFi Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the WiFi settings. Usually, there's a WiFi button or a touchscreen interface to access these settings.
  • Ensure that your printer is searching for available WiFi networks. Select your new WiFi network name (SSID) and enter the password to connect. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the connection.

Verify Connection:

  • Once connected to WiFi, print a network configuration or wireless test report from your printer. This will confirm if your printer has successfully connected to your WiFi network.
  • Note down the IP address of the printer from this report. You might need it later.

Reinstall HP Smart App (Optional):

  • If the printer still doesn't appear in the HP Smart app, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your mobile device. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

Add Printer Manually to HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and navigate to the "Printers" section. Look for an option to add a new printer manually.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to add the printer using its IP address (if available) or by selecting it from the list of discovered devices on your network.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Occasionally, firmware updates can improve connectivity and functionality. Check if there's a firmware update available for your HP Envy 6052e printer through the HP Smart app or by visiting HP's support website.

Factory Reset (Last Resort):

  • If all else fails and you're still unable to connect, you might consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Refer to your printer's manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure your WiFi network is stable and functioning properly. Weak or intermittent WiFi signals can cause connectivity issues.
  • Make sure the printer and your mobile device are connected to the same WiFi network.
  • Double-check that there are no firewall settings on your router blocking the printer's communication.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
