Hi @aci121

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly—when your HP OfficeJet Pro 9012 shows a blue screen with error code B8158376 and all lights are flashing, it’s a known firmware-level fault that causes the printer to lock up and become unresponsive. Fortunately, HP has documented a recovery process that has helped other users resolve this exact issue.

Here’s a structured recovery plan to get your printer back online:

Step-by-Step Fix for Error B8158376 on HP OfficeJet Pro 9012

1. Perform a Full Power Drain

This clears residual charge and forces a hardware reset.

  1. Leave the printer powered on
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds
  5. Press and hold the power button on the printer for 30 seconds
  6. Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors)
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the printer
  8. Turn on the printer, if it doesn’t power on automatically

Let the printer sit idle for a few minutes and observe whether the blue screen clears.

2. Update Firmware via HP Smart (if accessible)

If the printer becomes responsive after the reset:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 PC
  • Select your printer
  • Go to Advanced Settings > Printer Home Page (EWS)
  • Navigate to Tools > Printer Updates > Check Now

This ensures your printer has the latest firmware, which may prevent future lockups.

3. If the Printer Remains Unresponsive

If the blue screen and flashing lights persist:

  • The issue may require firmware recovery via USB or HP service intervention

Let me know if you'd like help preparing a support request or walking through USB firmware recovery. You deserve a printer that works when you need it most—let’s get this resolved.

Hallo Hawks_Eye

Vielleicht kannst du mir helfen etwas anderes auszuprobieren?

Hello Hawks_Eye

I've tried following your exact instructions several times. Unfortunately, to no avail. It keeps trying to align the print head, and then the blue screen appears with the error message - everything is flashing and nothing works. Perhaps you can help me try something else?

Hello Hawks_Eye! I did everything as described. My printer is no longer supported by HP. I'm supposed to pay €25 and I don't know if it will solve the problem. Could you help me with a detailed solution for booting from a USB stick?
