Hi @Bazkitkayse,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the issue of the printer printing grey instead of black!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Ink Levels:
- Ensure that your black ink cartridge is not empty or low. You can check this by accessing the printer's control panel or through the printer software on your computer.
- Replace the cartridge if necessary.
Clean Printhead:
- Sometimes, clogged printheads can cause incorrect printing colors. Use the printer’s built-in cleaning function to clean the printhead. This option is often found in the printer maintenance section of the settings menu.
Printer Settings:
- Confirm that the printer settings default to printing in black and not in a grayscale mode. This can be checked from the print properties section before printing a document.
- Go to ‘Printer Preferences’ and ensure the settings are set to print in color or black, not grayscale.
Use Original Cartridges:
- Sometimes, third-party cartridges can produce different results. If you're not using original HP cartridges, consider switching to them for consistent performance.
Update Printer Driver:
- Make sure your printer driver is up to date. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest driver for your printer model.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cable, wait a minute, and reconnect. Turn the printer back on to reset it.
Check for Obstructions:
- Make sure there is no debris or obstruction around the ink cartridge area that might impact printing quality.
I hope this helps.
