Hi @Henk451
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
Here's what you can do to try to resolve this issue:
1. Check for Cartridge Protection and Reset the Printer
HP printers often have a Cartridge Protection feature that prevents the use of third-party or refurbished cartridges. This protection might be preventing the printer from accepting the new ink cartridges.
Here’s how to reset the protection and clear any errors:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn the printer back on.
- Remove and reinstall the refurbished cartridges carefully to make sure they are seated correctly.
- Turn the printer off again, wait a moment, and then turn it on again.
2. Disable Cartridge Protection
If the Cartridge Protection feature is activated, you may be able to disable it from the printer’s settings (if supported). Follow these steps:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
- Go to Printer Settings.
- Look for a section called Cartridge Protection or Security Settings and try to turn off or disable cartridge protection.
If you are using HP Instant Ink, note that this feature may not apply to third-party or refurbished cartridges.
3. Check for Firmware Updates
Sometimes a firmware update can cause compatibility issues with third-party or refurbished cartridges. If your printer has the latest firmware, it might be blocking these cartridges.
- Go to the HP Support website and check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer model.
- If an update is available, follow the instructions to update the firmware.
4. Try Using Original HP Cartridges Temporarily
To rule out that the issue is specifically with the refurbished cartridges, try using genuine HP cartridges in your printer. If the issue is resolved, the printer may simply not support refurbished cartridges.
If it works with original HP cartridges, you can then contact HP Support for clarification on the use of third-party cartridges with your model.
5. Check Ink Cartridge Compatibility
Ensure the refurbished cartridges you are using are fully compatible with your HP ENVY Inspire 7224e model. Some refurbished cartridges may not be properly reconditioned, which could cause errors. You might want to check the 123inkt.nl website for compatibility with your printer model, or try contacting their support for assistance.
