Hello all, recently my HP Officejet Pro 9010E All-In-One printer mysteriously obtained a password that has managed to lock me completly out of being able to print or basically use the printer. It says it is connected to my home WiFi under a 5g setting and I have even tried connecting a USB printer cable to it to get it to function to no avail. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and software both through HP SMART (which btw is a horrendous app to work with) as well as removing the print drivers, uninstalling HP SMART and removing the printer through MS Win 11Pro settings, which now it says (even when running HP Print Doctor it says everything is fine, everything is installed correctly and tries to print a test page (which nothing prints), then says to attempt to do an internal print (again nothing). The only time it prints anything is when printing reports directly from the printer's touchscreen. I figured to come here first to try to find a reset procedure and if this fails my next call is to HP Platinum's Tech Support. Any ideas from the gurus at HP??

Hi @ChaoticShade,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're facing a frustrating situation with your HP Officejet Pro 9010E printer. If your printer has suddenly obtained a password that you didn't set, it's possible that there might be a security or firmware issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Factory Reset: Many printers have a factory reset option that can help you revert the settings back to their default state. To do this, you'll usually need to press a combination of buttons on the printer. Check your printer's manual or the HP website for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
- Contact HP Support: If a factory reset doesn't work or if you're unsure about performing it, it's a good idea to contact HP's customer support. They can guide you through troubleshooting steps and provide assistance to resolve the issue.
- Update Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes lead to unexpected issues. Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer model on the official HP website. Updating the firmware might resolve the password issue.
- Physical Security: Ensure that the printer is physically secure and not accessible by unauthorized individuals. Sometimes, password-related issues can arise from someone tampering with the printer's settings.
- Change Wi-Fi Password: If your printer is connected to a Wi-Fi network, make sure your Wi-Fi network password hasn't been changed. If it has, update the Wi-Fi settings on your printer accordingly.
- Check Network Settings: If your printer is connected to a network, review its network settings to ensure they are accurate. Sometimes, a network-related issue can lead to password problems.
- HP Smart App: If you've used the HP Smart App to manage your printer, make sure there haven't been any unauthorized changes made through the app. Access the app and verify the printer settings.
- Perform a Hard Reset: This might be a last resort option if none of the above steps work. A hard reset involves completely disconnecting the printer from power for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This can sometimes help clear out any lingering issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
