Hi! I connected the printer to my macbook air m1 (macOS Sonoma 14.6.1), the system immediately recognized it and installed the drivers. But the printer only prints Unsupported Personality PCL on a paper. I tried all possible driver versions that macOS suggested, but it didn't work. And when I send it to print, the printer blinks and does not print immediately, just after a lot of minutes are printing phrase Unsupported Personality PCL. Help plz

Hi @dima15,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Unsupported Personality PCL" error indicates that the HP LaserJet 1010 printer is not compatible with the drivers or print language that macOS is using. PCL (Printer Command Language) is a page description language used by printers, and this error suggests that the printer is having trouble interpreting the print data it receives.
Here’s how you can address this issue:
1. Verify Printer Compatibility
- The HP LaserJet 1010 is an older model, and it may not be fully supported by the latest macOS versions, including macOS Sonoma 14.6.1. HP's support for older printers on newer operating systems can sometimes be limited.
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model to check for any updated drivers or compatibility information.
2. Install HP Print Drivers Manually
- Sometimes the drivers provided through macOS might not be the latest or most compatible. You can try downloading the latest drivers directly from HP's website or from the HP Support page for LaserJet 1010.
- Once downloaded, open the driver package and follow the installation instructions.
- Download and install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store. This app may have updated drivers or provide additional configuration options.
4. Reset Printing System
- Reset Printing System:
- Sometimes resetting the printing system can resolve issues with printers not working correctly:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers and select Reset Printing System.
- Confirm the reset and re-add your printer.
- Sometimes resetting the printing system can resolve issues with printers not working correctly:
5. Check Printer Settings
- Ensure that the printer is set to the correct print language (PCL or PostScript) if your printer has any configuration options accessible through its control panel.
- If possible, check if there's a firmware update available for your HP LaserJet 1010 that might address compatibility issues with newer operating systems.
6. Use a Different Computer
- Test on Another Computer:
- If you have access to another computer (Windows or an older Mac), try connecting the printer to that computer to see if it prints correctly. This can help determine if the issue is specific to macOS Sonoma or a more general printer issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
