@Hampshire, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Restore network settings to default settings

Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

Connect the printer with WPS

  1. Locate the WPS button on your router, but do not press it yet.

If your router does not support WPS, skip to the next step to connect the printer with the HP Smart app.

  2. Turn on the printer. If the printer is in sleep mode, press the Cancel button on the control panel.

  3. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button  for at least 3 seconds or until the wireless light starts to flash.

  4. On the router, press and hold the WPS button for 3 to 5 seconds or until it shows that the WPS connection process has started.

NOTE: The printer stops searching for a WPS connection two minutes after the wireless button is pressed. If you were unable to press the WPS button within that timeframe, attempt these steps again.

Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.

If the printer fails to connect to your wireless network, continue to the next step.

Connect the printer with the HP Smart app

Refer to step 2 under 'Connect a printer that does not have a touchscreen control panel' in this document.

Let me know how this goes.

Thank you for your response. This sounds like what I had to do when I got telephone support some months ago. This led to me having password problems with my Router and it was a nightmare. If I have to reset my Router or mess with my Router in anyway and I will stick to using the USB connection only.

The instructions provided do not include resetting the router. The first step mentions restoring the network settings on the printer and not the router. If you have connected the printer and the PC using a USB cable, you may convert it to wireless by using the printer assistant software.

Make sure the HP Full-featured driver is installed.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

To know how to convert to wireless from USB, refer to this document.

I already have HP Smart App. Believe that my problem maybe to do with the following. I have a dual-band router. I connect to the Internet using the 5GHz band. The 2630 Printer only works with a wireless connection using the 2.4GHz band. I have been through the same procedure over and over again and it never works.

@Hampshire

You are right. This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.

If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

When you try to connect the printer to the wireless network, it looks for a 2.4GHz network only.

Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.

Keep me posted.

I Have checked the Router and it is set up as follows:

The name/SSID for the two is different. The 5GHZ is xxxxxx-5GHZ and the 2.4GHz is xxxxxx-24GHz (yes 24 because the length is limited).

Where it is asked for the 2.4GHz, 'Do you wanted to Sync this to the 5GHz', the answer selected is no.

The Security Password for each of the bands is different. Also, the 2.4GHZ channel is set at 6.

Note that I can connect to the Internet with either band.
