Hi @LisaOliver,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw is not printing true colors even after using genuine HP toner cartridges, and you've already calibrated and cleaned the print head, there are a few other troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check Toner Levels: Ensure that the toner cartridges have sufficient toner levels. If any of the cartridges are low, replace them with new ones.
- Color Settings: Verify that the color settings on your computer match the color profile you want to print. Sometimes, incorrect color settings can result in inaccurate prints.
- Driver Update: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit the HP website to download and install the most recent drivers for your printer model.
- Color Management: Check the color management settings in your printing preferences. Ensure that they are set to the correct color profile for the type of printing you are doing.
- Paper Type: Ensure that you are using the correct type of paper for your print job. Different papers can affect color output.
- Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Firmware updates can sometimes address performance issues.
- Print Quality Settings: Adjust the print quality settings in the printer driver. Higher quality settings may improve color accuracy but could use more toner.
- Try Another Application: Print from a different application to rule out software-specific issues.
- Color Calibration: Perform a color calibration directly on the printer. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
- Test Print: Print a test page directly from the printer to see if the issue persists. Most printers have a built-in function for this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
