- Try using a different USB port on your computer.
- If available, try using a different USB cable.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Run the Printer Troubleshooter:

- Select Additional troubleshooters.
- Click on Printer and then Run the troubleshooter.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP LaserJet P1008.
- Install the latest drivers and restart your computer.
Check Windows Update:
- Ensure that Windows 10 is fully updated. Sometimes printer issues can be resolved by installing the latest Windows updates.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Reset the Print Spooler Service:
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Scroll down and find the Print Spooler service.
- Right-click on it and select Stop.
- Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in the folder.
- Go back to the Print Spooler service, right-click on it, and select Start.
Check Printer Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP LaserJet P1008 and select Printer Properties.
- Go to the Ports tab and ensure the correct port is selected.
- Go to the Advanced tab and ensure that the correct driver is selected.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the HP LaserJet P1008 and select Remove device.
- Unplug the printer from your computer.
- Restart your computer.
