HP ENVY 5546
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I keep getting the message: 'Word can't print due to a problem with printer set-up'.   I tried uninstalling and re-installing the printer driver but this hasn't worked - I still get the same message.  I am able to print from other devices that don't have windows 10 - such as my iPhone, but can't print from my hp desktop.

I then saw some previous solutions on this forum and tried to follow the steps but have a few questions about one of the stages that I hope someone can help me with. When I did the run command 'printui.exe /s' and looked under the driver tab there seems to be a lot of different drivers there and I am not sure which ones are related specifically to my HP printer.  Do I delete the HP Delivery Driver and the HP PCL3 A-size Printer Class Driver? There are a load of other Microsoft drivers there that I assume I don't delete?

Many thanks for any advice

Hi @Hope23

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

If the issue occurs only while printing MS Word documents, try updating or repairing it.

Type in 'printui.exe /s' > Driver tab > Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

Do not remove any Microsoft drivers.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Use HP Smart app to print from your PC and check if the issue persists

Click here to download and know more about the app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your help.  I tried your initial suggestion of trying different types of documents and found that I was able to print pdf documents.  I then went back and tried printing a word document and it worked! So I don't know if printing the pdf reset the system somehow - or whether it just took time for my previous uninstall and reinstall to work.  Anyhow - seems to be working now but I might come back to you if it happens again.  Thanks so much for your help.
