Hi @artsenigma,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble with your HP ENVY 5020 printer showing as offline and indicating that a cartridge needs to be enrolled. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the power source and that all cables are securely plugged in.
  • If the printer is connected via USB to a computer, check the USB connection as well.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can often resolve temporary connectivity issues.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Open the printer cover and make sure that the cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly. Ensure they are securely clicked into place.

Check Cartridge Enrollment:

  • Some HP printers require ink cartridges to be enrolled or registered with the printer for proper functioning. This might involve registering the cartridges through HP's Instant Ink program or ensuring they are genuine HP cartridges if they have a chip that needs to be recognized by the printer.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve connectivity issues.

Check Network Connection (if applicable):

  • If your printer is connected wirelessly, ensure that it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and that the network connection is stable.

Restart Your Computer or Device:

  • If you are printing from a computer or mobile device, try restarting it to rule out any software issues.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Verify in the printer settings or on the printer’s control panel that it is set to online mode and not in offline mode.

Reset the Printer (if necessary):

  • As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This will vary by model, so refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
