I'm having a problem with my Smart Tank 7302 printer. I can print to it just fine from my Mac, but my Windows computers have serious problems.

 

Printer is connected to the local router via ethernet cable, not wifi.

 

Windows says the printer is offline, Mac finds it easily and shows it online and prints. The only way to get Windows laptop 1 to print is to cycle power to the printer. Laptop 2 has printed a test print and nothing else. I've tried from both Word and Notepad and the printer isn't available to either. Windows printer queue shows the documents en queue but nothing gets them to the printer.

 

The Mac prints to it immediately with no problems, but HP Smart on Laptop 2 says the printer is offline. If I click on Print Documents, it pops a window that says Install to print. I click Install Printer. After a few minutes, it comes back with "There was a problem during installation. To manually install the printer driver:" I follow the directions and the install window sits there for a long time. The progress bar under the Scanner settings line does not move from about 15%. (Yes, it's connected to the WiFi and Internet.) After approximately ten minutes, I gave up and tried to install and run Windows Scan app, which had no problem.

 

I click "Printer Settings" and get Printer Information that shows "Printer Offline" and "Installation Status" as "Not Installed".

 

I have uninstalled the printer twice and reinstalled and nothing changes.

 

I installed HP East Start and it did not find the printer. I entered the IP address and entered the printer PIN when requested. It processed and searched for software and drivers (I presume), and eventually came back with "Something went wrong."

1. First, install the basic drivers for printers:

2. Once installed, Restart your computer.

 

3. Then go to Windows > Settings > Printers & scanners > Add device button to add your printer.
