Hi @Karen1948,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy 4520 might be encountering some issues with its settings or connection. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.
- Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a wireless printer, make sure it's connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and that the signal is strong.
- Restart Printer: Sometimes, simply turning the printer off and on again can resolve minor issues. Power off your printer, wait for a few moments, and then turn it back on.
- Check Ink and Paper: Ensure that there is enough paper in the paper tray and that the ink cartridges are properly installed and not empty.
- Reset Printing System (Mac): If you're using a Mac, you can try resetting the printing system. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click on the printer, and select "Reset printing system." Note that this will remove all printers from your list, so you'll need to add yours again afterward.
- Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can usually download these from the HP website or through the software that came with your printer.
- Check for Error Messages: Sometimes, the printer itself will display error messages that can help diagnose the problem. Check the printer's display or any error lights for more information.
- Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings are correct, such as paper size, print quality, etc. Sometimes, incorrect settings can cause printing issues.
- Check for Paper Jams: Even if there doesn't appear to be a paper jam, opening up the printer and checking for any stuck paper or debris can sometimes resolve the issue.
Try these steps and see if they help resolve the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
