Every day, only recently, (or sometimes several times in a day), printer acts like it is scanning a document, but, there's nothing in it to be scanned. I have checked the firmware it is up to date and I am connected with HP Smart app. How do I stop this annoying scan process.?

@KJI2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
That unexpected scanning noise from your HP ENVY Inspire 7920e can definitely throw off the calm—especially when it starts up on its own with no document on the glass. Sounds like your printer might be responding to background signals or queued jobs.
Here are a few quick things you can try to stop it:
Clear out pending print/scan jobs from the HP Smart app and your Windows print queue—sometimes an old job can get stuck in a loop.
Disable Web Services temporarily via the printer’s control panel—just to see if it’s being triggered remotely or by the cloud.
Turn off 'Scan to Computer' if it's enabled:
Open HP Utility or HP Smart on your PC.
Look for "Scan to Computer" settings.
If it's on, toggle it off.
Restart your printer after these steps—give it a fresh start.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
