Welcome to the HP Community --

Print jobs generally complete faster when printing in Black / White.

When quality is less important, print in "Draft" as opposed to "Normal".  Avoid Best Quality when possible.

Scan density is important -- higher resolutions (dpi) always impact how long it takes to complete a scan.

NOTE

When called from within printing programs / software / applications, Printing Preferences might be called "Printer Properties" / "Shortcuts" / “More Settings” / “Properties” / "Printer Setup" / "Presets" or similar.

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

Select Printer > Printing Preferences

Windows 10

Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners

Select Printer > Manage > Printing Preferences

What else?

You can slow down printing easily enough using "Quiet Mode"

"Faster is better"

The printer is limited to what it is designed to support, your network, the job type (paper size / content density), the resources available (busy network, busy computer or other device used to submit the job to the printer.

DeskJet Printers are entry level and are meant for casual printing needs -- they are not "office work horses".  As such, the printer is not "fast as can be" but is perhaps "fast enough".

Examples

Print jobs benefit using a network that is not overly crowded with other tasks / connections.

Decent router support - including router configuration and distance from the target devices impacts performance.

Scan and Print tasks benefit from a less busy environment in your device (computer, tablet, phone).

Keep in mind that specifications are built to test what can be done and perhaps not how the printer will be used in your situation.
