I reinstalled my new OfficeJet Pro 8135e. I received a message that says USE SETUP CARTRIDGES. The printer won't print. I had already used up the set up cartridges and installed new cartridges. I need to be able to bypass the USE SETUP CARTRIDGES message.

Hi @tinytotamy
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Reinstall Original Setup Cartridges:
- If you still have the original setup cartridges, try reinstalling them. This may allow the printer to recognize that they have been used and clear the error.
2. Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure that the new cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and compatible with your printer. Non-genuine cartridges might not work properly.
3. Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on. This can help reset any persistent error messages.
4. Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and carefully remove the cartridges.
- Gently clean the copper contacts on both the cartridges and the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly dampened with water. Ensure everything is dry before reinstalling.
5. Update Printer Firmware:
- If you can get the printer to recognize the cartridges, check for firmware updates through the control panel: Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer. Firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely,
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

I have the set up cartridges and new ones sent from hp ink program and have clean them and reset printer many times and still cartridge or account issue. I read there is a by pass called OOBE but can't find how to do that to give it a try.
