Hi @Junk70,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I can understand how concerning it is when your printer appears connected, but the setup remains incomplete and basic functions like copying are not available. I'll be glad to help work through this with you.
To better understand the situation, could you kindly confirm:
- Are you using the HP App on Windows, Mac, Android, or iPhone/iPad?
- Does the printer display any blinking lights or error indicators?
- Has this printer worked previously, or is this the first-time setup?
- Are both your printer and device connected to the same Wi-Fi network?
In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:
- Turn the printer on and verify that the Wireless light is solid blue.
- Restart your printer, router, and the device running the HP App.
- Open the HP App and remove the printer if it is listed.
- Restore the printer's network settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel button together for about 5 seconds until the wireless light begins blinking.
- Wait for the printer to enter setup mode.
- Open the HP App again and choose Add Printer.
- If the printer is not discovered automatically, temporarily disable any VPN connection and ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the setup device.
- If available, try setup using a different device (such as a smartphone) to determine whether the issue is application-related.

Based on your description, the printer itself appears to be powered on and connected to the network, but the setup process may not have completed successfully within the HP App.
If the app loses communication with the printer during setup, it may continue showing "Setup Incomplete" even though the printer displays a network connection.
Resetting the printer's network settings and running the setup process again usually refreshes the connection between the printer and the HP App and allows the setup to complete successfully.
I hope this helps.
