Hi
I've just got my new 6132e printer and connected both my HP laptop and HP printer to the wifi. I've downloaded the HP Smart app to setup my printer and it asks for the location services to be enabled which it is but still the install wont be completed.
I've downloaded all new drivers and firmware fix. Downloaded the print doctor programme that can't then find my printer to diagnose!!!!
Help Please!!!

Hi @Geoff13C,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand you're having difficulty completing the setup of your new HP ENVY 6132e All-in-One Printer using the HP Smart app, despite enabling location services and installing all drivers and updates. We're here to assist.
1. Confirm Location Services (Windows Settings)
Even if location services are on, HP Smart needs permission for the app specifically:
- Go to Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Location.
- Make sure:
- Location services are on.
- Scroll down and make sure HP Smart is listed and allowed to use your location.
2. Ensure Network Discovery is On
- Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings.
- Make sure:
- Network Discovery is turned on.
- File and printer sharing is on.
3. Connect via HP Smart App
- Open HP Smart.
- Click “+ Add Printer” or “Set Up a New Printer”.
- If your printer does not show up, press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the light blinks (this puts it in setup mode).
- HP Smart should now detect it.
If not:
4. Reset HP Smart App (Optional)
- Press Windows + R, type:
ms-settings:appsfeatures - Scroll to HP Smart, click Advanced Options, and click Reset.
5. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Download: Official HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows | Free Download hppsdr.exe)
- Run it again, but first make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop.
- If it still can’t find the printer, try temporarily disabling your firewall or antivirus, as it may be blocking detection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
