Printer setup scam

I've fallen for what seems to be a scam in setting up the printer. I was on what I thought was the HP site, had a problem in connecting, was told I had a trojan that was working its way through my computer. I spent about half a day with the outfit I contacted connected online, in the course of which I paid them a considerable amount of money for fixing the problem plus five years security and support.

As far as I can make out I'd blundered into their site thinking it was the legit one, and that HP had passed me on to them. I don't know how I did. This problem has come up with Hewlett Packard printers before according to chatroom entries - as long ago as 2018 - and I feel strongly that there should have been some clear warning in the online and paper information HP puts out. 

I will be contacting the police online fraud people.
