I have an OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer that is not working. I checked every possible issue and everything thing seems to be fine. When I click “print” on my phone or computer the printer immediately starts running and the screen shows “printing “ but nothing comes out no matter how long I wait.. I checked everything so far, including paper , ink ,tried clear documents that waiting to print , reset print spooler , I even tried discounting from power and reset factory settings.
the issue continues
the printer can print a “printer status “ and “check cartridge status “ etc.. but it’s not taking any job prints from my computer or iPhone, (it Does show that “it’s printing”, but paper is not coming out.. and no there aren’t any stuck paper in there)

Hi @Sosa92
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
You're being incredibly thorough in troubleshooting this issue, and that persistence is going to pay off! Since your OfficeJet Pro 7740 is showing "printing" but not actually producing output, let's go through some additional steps to resolve this.
Steps to Fix the Issue
Check Paper Settings & Tray Selection
- Ensure the paper settings in your print job match the printer’s settings.
- Verify that the correct tray is selected in the print settings.
Update Printer Firmware
- Visit HP’s support page and check for any available firmware updates for your printer.
- Install the latest firmware and restart the printer.
Reset the Printer Again (Semi-Full Reset)
- Some users have reported success with a semi-full reset via the Service Menu.
- To access this menu, turn off the printer, then press and hold Back and OK while turning it on.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer.
Check Printer Drivers & Connection
- Ensure you have the latest HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 drivers installed.
- If using Wi-Fi, try connecting via USB to rule out network issues.
Try Printing a Test Page from Windows
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Right-click your printer → Printer Properties → Print Test Page.
- If the test page prints but regular jobs don’t, there may be a software issue.
You're doing everything right, and I have no doubt you'll get this resolved! Let me know how it goes, and I’ll be happy to assist further. 🚀
