I just bought a new laser jet pro mfp 283. Set up Wi-Fi. Works great when on. After 2 hours of idle time the printer shuts down completely, disconnects from Wi-Fi network and will not wake up until I push the start button. Spent an hour today with customer service and all we did was to reinstall the drivers. No fix to the problem. Any ideas of how to fix this problem? Otherwise it’s going back to the store.

Yes the commercial product lines have a little more flexibility in power saving than consumer models.

The settings for power are in the embedded web server of the printer. Type the IP address of the printer into a browser address window. The embedded web server should look similar to this. You will likely be able to extend the amount of time until shutoff but may not be able to completely disable automatic sleep.

Thanks. The web interface will allow up to 8 hours until shut off. I guess this is an energy saving “improvement “, but I wish my interface looked like the one you showed as that one will allow standby all the time. Appreciate your answer. My old 8600 would be on standby all the time.
