I get an error Download failed. The printer is not doing anything else, it keeps trying to do the software update.
This started automagically, I did not ask for it, nor was I asked if I wanted it.
I removed the power and started again: no result.
I tried to do a manual upgrade (latest version is november 2022) but then the upgrade program does not find my printer

I talked to the helpdesk. A very friendly lady took me trough some steps but had to conclude at the end that it was not possible to fix it. The printer was to old.
I bought the printer new on April 1st 2020 (maybe not the best day) and now it is to old. OK. So I bought another printer and guess what: it is not a HP

Same issue here. For several days now, my HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 All-in-One printer has been trying to download a software update, but it fails. I initially tried resetting the network settings on the printer, but that only resulted in problems with my HP Instant Ink subscription. The printer is connected to the internet (LAN) via an Ethernet cable. Communication with computers on the network is okay and printing can be done. In the "web access" test results, the printer shows no problems whatsoever.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that the printer software update fails, I am glad to assist you.
You might have to perform a semi-full reset on the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.
I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.

Hi Sandytechy20
Thanks for your support. I have meanwhile performed this semi-full reset and everything appears to be okay now. The printer has not shown any more software update error messages up until now. 👍🙏

Hello
I had to re-install webservices as well as I use Instant Ink. Now I hope that installing webservices doesn't start the problem again.

After the reset I had the activate the webservices via advanced settings.
Now that the problem is back I tried to de-activate the webservices but I got this message
In Dutch, it translates to "Cannot open the home-page or EWS-page. Function not availlable"

Via HP Support Assistant I received a message this weekend that a firmware update was available for my printer. I have installed this update and have not received any more software update error messages on the printer since that time. Today, yet another firmware update appears to be availabe, whcih I have not yet installed.
