HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Printer

a couple of days ago my printer started a software update process but continues to fail to complete.  I've tried restarting multiple times as well as going to a hard wire connection to my laptop (thinking this would help. ) The message continues to be: " The printer update could not be downloaded.  Touch retry to start the download again.  Touch OK to exit."

When I tried the direct connection I did get a reading  progress % completion but when it reached 100% I still received the 

same  update not completed message.  Ideas please.  thank you
