Printer stopped functioning Friday and won't update software off HP website.

Has anyone else had this problem? Am using a Mac Book Pro with Mojave 10.14.6. Until Friday morning Oct. 23 had no problem at all printing with a HP PSC 1610 All-in-One 

Have spent all day on phone to Apple. Their support has run out of ideas and refers me to HP. They say I need to install updated software. Got software off the HP site but multiple download attempts have all failed. There's a bug somewhere- a filter missing? a compression error?

Have tried to download and install but the printer continues to post "Error" and will not print.

Does anyone have a solution?

I spent 6 hours on the phone with a printer technician, Apple and studying the HP website for help. My life and my business is at stake. If I can't print out documents, everything stops.  I went out and bought an EPSON yesterday.  My preference would be to continue using my HP because it's a mighty workhorse and I have loved it.  I have an iMac and an HP 6940.   I'd prefer for them to get this straightened out...  but will unpack the Epson and throw the HP in the dumpster and never look back to HP ever again if they don't get this fixed.

The solution is to download (and install) this package which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen...

If the link comes up blank, try right clicking and saving it. If you install this and still have troubles, try uninstalling your device in System Preferences/Printers & Scanners.

Easy Admin did nothing. Easy Startup did nothing. 5.1 drivers did nothing. This worked for me!

Thanks for the suggestion.  It did not work for me.  I'm opening the Epson box and starting all over with another company.  Don't have the time to mess with this.
