HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer

My HP Envy 7855 is stuck in the loading screen.

I tried all the steps recommended by other HP professionals posts: unplug, wait 3 mins, press the power button for 30 seconds, plug into the outlet and the printer, and turn it on... I'm still having the same issue. Can you help troubleshoot?

Hi @W7810,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer is stuck on the loading screen, and you've already tried the basic troubleshooting steps, here are a few more advanced steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Step 1: Turn off the printer by unplugging it from the power source.
  • Step 2: Disconnect any other cables connected to the printer (such as USB or Ethernet cables).
  • Step 3: Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Step 4: Press and hold the power button on the printer for about 30 seconds.
  • Step 5: Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (avoid using power strips or surge protectors).
  • Step 6: Turn on the printer and check if it gets past the loading screen.

2. Check for Firmware Corruption: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Firmware corruption can sometimes cause the printer to be stuck on the loading screen. If your printer is recognized by your computer when connected via USB, you can attempt a firmware recovery:
  • Step 1: Connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Step 2: Download the latest firmware for your printer model from the HP support website.
  • Step 3: Run the firmware update tool and follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
  • Step 4: After the update, restart the printer to see if it resolves the issue.

3. Perform a Semi-Full Reset:

  • A semi-full reset can restore the printer to its factory settings, potentially resolving the loading screen issue. Note that this will erase all settings on the printer, including network settings.
  • Step 1: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Step 2: While holding down the "Cancel" button and the "Color Copy" button, plug the printer back into the power source.
  • Step 3: Continue holding the buttons until the printer starts resetting itself.
  • Step 4: Once the reset is complete, the printer should restart automatically. Check if the loading screen issue is resolved.
