HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer

My printer will not load past the startup screen where it fills one dot and the progress bar fills completely. Nothing else will work beyond this point.  I have attempted unplugging for 60 seconds while holding in the power button about ten times, so I am certain that this is not the right process for fixing the machine. There must be a way to do a factory reset without accessing the main controls right?

Hi @Jleudenburg23,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer is stuck on the startup screen and doesn't progress beyond that point, you can try performing a semi-full reset. This can sometimes resolve issues with the printer's firmware. Here are the steps to do a semi-full reset.

  • Make sure the printer is powered on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and not making any noise.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still turned on.
  • Disconnect the other end of the power cord from the power outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds to ensure that all residual power is discharged from the printer.
  • Reconnect the power cord to both the printer and the power outlet.
  • Turn the printer back on if it doesn't turn on automatically.
  • Wait for the printer to complete its startup process. It may take a few minutes.

This should perform a semi-full reset, which may resolve the issue you're experiencing. If it doesn't, you can try a full factory reset, although this may require access to the printer's control panel. Here's how you can do a factory reset if you can access the control panel:

  • On the printer's control panel, touch the "Settings" or "Setup" button.
  • Navigate to the "Preferences" or "Tools" menu.
  • Select "Restore Defaults" or "Factory Reset" (the exact wording may vary).
  • Confirm the action when prompted.

Please note that performing a full factory reset will erase all custom settings, so be prepared to reconfigure your printer afterward.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
