I recently purchased my new printer hp smart tank 7602r. I was going through the set up steps but now it’s stuck on the screen “HP software is setting up your printer…” I’ve tried unplugging/restarting printer multiple times and nothing has worked. I seen in the tread to go through printer setting and realign it but my printer doesn’t show any setting in the app, it’s still prompting me to set up and when I go through those steps it says if the light is solid it’s already on the network so I’m stuck here

Hi @irocklocsz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 7602r printer is stuck on the setup screen with the message "HP software is setting up your printer…" and you've already tried restarting and unplugging the printer with no success, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue.

Cancel the Setup Process:

  • If possible, try to cancel the current setup process via your computer or mobile app.

HP App:

  • Ensure you are using the latest version of the HP app. You can check the app store relevant to your device for any updates and install them.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on again.
  • This process often clears temporary setup issues.

Check Connectivity:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the Wi-Fi network and that there is no issue with the Internet connection.
  • Make sure that both your printer and the device you are using for the setup are connected to the same network.

Reinstall the Software:

  • Uninstall the current printer software from your computer.
  • Go to the official HP website and download the latest software for your printer model.
  • Follow the installation instructions carefully.

Use Different Device:

  • If the problem persists, try continuing the setup from a different device (e.g., a different computer or smartphone) to identify if the issue is device-specific.

Factory Reset:

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. This may be done by pressing specific button combinations or via the printer’s settings menu. Refer to the user manual for your printer model for detailed instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
