Hi @Ladybug45

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand your printer is displaying an "E" error, the ink light is flashing even with new cartridges installed, and when you try to print from your MacBook Air, the paper feeds halfway through and then stops.

Error E0: Cartridge Issue

  • Problem: One or both ink cartridges need attention.
  • Reseat both cartridges.
  • Clean the ink cartridge contacts.
  • Restart the printer.
  • Replace one or both ink cartridges if necessary.

Perform a Power Reset

  • Leave the printer turned ON.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet.
  • Turn the printer back on if it does not start automatically.

Check for a Paper Jam

Since the paper feeds halfway and stops:

  • Remove any paper from the input tray.
  • Open all access doors.
  • Carefully inspect the paper path for:
  • Jammed paper
  • Torn paper pieces
  • Foreign objects
  • Remove any obstructions carefully.
  • Ensure the paper guides are adjusted snugly against the paper without bending it.
  • Reload a small stack of plain paper.

Clean the Paper Rollers

If the paper continues stopping halfway:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the paper feed rollers.
  • Allow the rollers to dry completely (about 10 minutes).
  • Plug the printer back in and try printing again.

Reset the Printing System on Your Mac

  • On your Mac, open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Control-click (or right-click) in the printer list.
  • Select Reset Printing System.
  • Restart your Mac.
  • Add the printer again and try printing a test page.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
