HI there. I'm new to HP Community and to any technical stuff. Somehow, don't know how, but I managed to lock my printer HP OfficeJet8010 Series (box above only allowed for choice of a 8012 series) and cannot make it wireless until I can get it locked. Can any suggestions be put in plain easy language that I will understand. If anyone has some idea, I would be grateful.
Thanks JanneT2

Hi @JanneT2,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 8010 Series printer has been locked, and you're trying to unlock it to set it up for wireless printing. Here's a step-by-step guide in simple language to help you unlock your printer and set it up wirelessly.
Check if the Control Panel is Locked:
- Look at your printer’s screen. If it says "Locked" or shows a padlock icon, this might mean some settings have been restricted.
Try a Factory Reset:
If the printer is locked and you can’t change settings, a factory reset can help you unlock it. Here's how to reset it:
- Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
- Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer and wait for 60 seconds.
- While holding down the "Cancel" button, plug the power cable back in.
- Keep holding the Cancel button until the printer turns on and you see "Resetting" or something similar on the screen.
This reset should unlock your printer and restore the default settings.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
Now that the printer is unlocked, you can set it up to connect wirelessly.
- On the printer’s screen, find Settings or Network Setup.
- Choose Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi network. You’ll need your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password.
Install the Printer on Your Computer:
Once connected to Wi-Fi, you need to install the printer on your computer.
- On your computer, go to the HP Smart app (download it from the HP website or your app store if you don’t have it).
- Follow the instructions in the app to add the printer to your network.
Test It Out:
Print a test page to make sure everything is working!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
