Office Jet 4650 and Envy pro 6458
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I print, my printers continue to show as offline.  I have tried restarting the modem, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, and updating Windows.  I have tried both utilizing wireless printing and a USB cable.  Neither work.  I bought the Envy thinking maybe I would have better luck with a new printer and driver, and I have the same issues as with my Office Jet.  It's very frustrating and time intensive to have to reinstall every other day to be able to print a simple document.

The Office Jet will print documents I send from my Samsung phone with not problem.  I have not tried the Envy yet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@Vsneed, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • Either a 2.4GHz network or a 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Install the printer using the TCP/IP port:

Uninstall the previous driver and delete the printer from devices and printers.

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
