Operating System: Ubuntu LTS

I'm looking for currently-available printers that are compatible with Ubuntu 18:04 with Cups 2.77. I was tasked with installing a "HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw" and got it to function by using the "office Pro 6970, driverless, cups-filters 1.20.2" listed in the Cups "localhost:631/admin" session.

 

That's a small victory though; we can't buy that printer anymore, and I only tested basic printing and even there, the margins aren't the same as the same page printed to a corporate HP PageWide Pro 577.

 

There are no specific requirements/features beyond basic printing (via USB) and the ability to buy these printers as needed.

 

This Neverstop 1001nw is apparently "driverless", so I don't know if my solution is as easy as getting a postscript printer with its own PPD or... dunno?
