HP Color LaserJet Pro M254dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use Microsoft Publisher to create greeting cards. I am now trying to print envelopes (A2) for greeting cards on y M254dw laser jet printer. Unfortunately I've discovered that A2 is not one of the pre-configured sizes so I:

  1. Opened the Publisher document that I want to print and selected File/Print
  2. Clicked on Printer Properties
  3. Selected Paper Quality tab on the window that popped up
  4. Selected Custom under paper sizes
  5. Selected New and entered the sizes for an A2 envelope (4.37x5.75) and gave it a name (A2)

The OK button is grayed out and I can't go any farther.

Is there any way to get past this and print an A2 envelope on this printer?

Can you use MS Word to create custom size to see can it be done in Word.

I don't see an A2 envelope in Word.

Create it as custom size.

That is what I was doing but after entering the sizes the OK button was grayed out. I tried it again today using the same process and it works.

Now it works!Now it works!

The reason the OK button was grayed out was that I was trying to name the custom size A2. I presume it didn't like that because it recognized A2 as a pre-defined size, even though it doesn't support it (it's not listed as a choice in any of the size input selection drop downs). As soon as I added any character to the name the OK button was available, so I named it "A2 envelope". The first envelope I printed was no good - I think the printer didn't pick up the envelope correctly and the printing was half off the envelope. I tried it again and it printed correctly.
