My Officejet 4500 G510g-m will not print PDF files. It adds the pdf file to the print queue. If I try to print the file again, the file is added to the print queue again. When I go to "Settings", "Devices", "Printers and Scanners" the printer is listed as "HP Officejet G510g-m (driver not available)" and there is no button to "Manage" the printer or print queue. Doing multiple reboots and disconnecting power cords on the printer does not change anything.
The printer has no problem printing word or excel files. When printing word or excel files, the printer name is different, "HP Officejet G510g-m (copy1)". This printer name is not shown anywhere in the "Settings".
Is there a fix to PDF printing problem?

@DS193, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing suggests a problem with the printer driver or how Windows is handling PDF print jobs. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and fix it:
Remove and Reinstall the Printer Driver
Remove all instances of the printer
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers
- Find all instances of "HP Officejet G510g-m" and remove them
- Right-click on each instance and select Remove device
Remove printer drivers completely
- Press Win + R, type printui.exe /s /t2, and hit Enter
- In the Print Server Properties window, find HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m and delete the driver
- If there are multiple instances (e.g., "Copy1"), remove them as well
Reinstall the driver
- Download the latest driver from HP official site
- Install the driver and restart your PC
Ensure the Correct Printer is Set as Default
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers
- Right-click on HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m (Copy1) and select Set as Default Printer
- Try printing a PDF file again
Test Printing a PDF Using Another App
If reinstalling the driver doesn’t work, try printing using a different PDF reader:
- Adobe Acrobat Reader: Open the PDF → Go to Print → Select "Print as Image" in Advanced settings
- Microsoft Edge or Chrome: Open the PDF in Edge/Chrome and try printing
Reset the Print Spooler
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter
- Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart
- Try printing a PDF again
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor to detect and fix any issues.
Check for Windows Updates
- Open Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update
- Click Check for updates and install any pending updates
- Restart your PC
After these steps, your printer should work correctly with PDFs.
I hope this helps. 🚀
Take care and have a good day.
