Places to check / recheck ...

If the paper size needed for the single check is not a supported size, you might need to create a Custom Paper Size form.  Reference > HP Document: HP Printers - Creating Custom Paper Sizes

If the paper size in the printer does not match the paper size you are using,

Alert the printer to the paper size.

If the paper size you need is not included in the paper size list, scroll to the end of the list and select "Custom".

Example - Retain / Modify (Edit) / Check Paper Size & Type -- Tray and Paper management

What problems? Are you printing a size check or trying to feed a single one?  What size media is your check?

My checks come as 3 per sheet. If I print 2 then 1 is left blank.  I need to know how to print on the one remaining.  Use tray 2?  Adjust settings in Quicken or hp or both?  Right now I tape a check to a full sheet of paper to print the check.

The following has been typed "on the fly" -- forgive any errors or missing bits...

This printer accepts custom size paper and paper types in Tray 2.

The Specifications include the paper sizes, types, and weights supported by the printer

Product Specifications for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer (1G5M0A)

Section Paper Handling

On the "lighter end", the printer supports plain paper 16lb / 60 gsm.

NOTE for later:  If paper type "Light Paper" is not available in your Paper Type list, select Plain Paper

Single Size Check Paper

Setting a single sheet of "check size paper" in the tray might not be enough to "catch" and feed the check.

The process might work better if you cut several pieces of plain paper the same size as the check paper.

Consider cutting and stacking six to eight single check size sheets (this is a guess based on general experience).

Stack the cut sheets in the tray.

Adjust the guides...

Test the setup - that is run the job and print the results on one of your test sheets.

Later, when you are ready to try "for real", open the tray and place the check paper on top of the stack.

Close the tray - confirm the paper size and continue with your job configuration and submission of the job to the printer).

My first post includes an illustration of the paper sizes supported in Tray 2.

Alert the printer to the paper size you will be using.

Open / Configure in EWS as described in the example.

If your paper size (single check paper) is not in the list, select Custom (the last entry in the list).

Printing Preferences - Windows

First,

If necessary, Create the Custom Size Paper form in Printing Preferences

Save the newly created (or edited) form, exit Printing Preferences

Exiting gives the form a chance to be added to your paper size list.

Example - Create a Custom Paper Size form (full driver printer software installed)

Custom_Paper_Size_Form_Examples_7Custom_Paper_Size_Form_Examples_7

Next,

Printing Preferences (with the full driver installed) supports creating Custom Shortcuts

A Shortcut is a group of settings created from another Shortcut (for example, General Everyday Printing).

Once a Custom Shortcut is created, it can be Saved and left as the "selected" shortcut in Printing Preferences.

The shortcut will remain selected (and available for default use) until it is changed (select Shortcut, Save if/as needed, OK to Exit Printing Preferences).

General Example - Printing Preferences - Everyday template used to create Custom Shortcut

9025_Printing_Preferences_Everyday_69025_Printing_Preferences_Everyday_6

Quicken Software

The following is admittedly conjecture - I've never used Quicken...

If you have the full driver printer software installed (ask if you need help with installing the full driver),

If you have created a custom paper size form for your "single check paper",

The custom paper size might show up in the software you are using to print the check.

If the custom size is not included in the paper size list,

(then)

If you can find it in your software dialog, select "Custom Size" setting in the paper size drop down (in the software).
