I'm trying to print half letter sheets on the printer and cant seem to get the match on the selection.

1. I have tried just moving the slide back to 5.5 with width of 8.5 and the printer always gives me a prompt

2. I have tried turning the paper with width x @ 8.5 and Y slide @5.5

3. I have create a half sheet in properties of the printer call 8.5 width x 5.5 length

i still get mismatch on tray prompt and feel the printer can't do this or I have misunderstood the correct setup for half letter

Any assistance would be grateful.

Hi @Gypse4u ,

If you are experiencing issues with printing half letter sheets on your HP M506 printer, you can follow these steps to ensure the correct settings are applied:

  1. Check Paper Size in Printer Properties:

  2. Open "Devices and Printers" from the Control Panel on your Windows 11.

  3. Right-click on your HP M506 printer and select "Printer Properties."
  4. Navigate to the "Preferences" or "Advanced" tab.
  5. Make sure the paper size is set to 8.5 inches in width and 5.5 inches in length (half letter size).

  6. Adjust Paper Settings:

  7. Make sure the print driver settings in the software program you are using are also set to 8.5 x 5.5 inches.

  8. In the print dialog, double-check the media type and select "Plain Paper."

  9. Adjusting Paper Tray Settings:

  10. Physically adjust the paper guides in the printer tray to fit the size of 5.5 x 8.5 inches accurately.

  11. Ensure that the paper is loaded properly and the guides are snug against the paper to prevent any misfeeds or prompts.

  12. Orientation Correction:

  13. Check the orientation settings in the print dialog box. If you find the option for landscape or portrait, ensure this matches the layout of your document (whether it is being read long side or short side).

  14. Create a Custom Paper Size:

  15. If the above steps do not solve the issue, try creating a custom paper size in your printing preferences:

    • Select "Custom Paper Size" under the relevant section in Printer Properties.
    • Name the custom size (e.g., "Half Letter") and set the width as 8.5 inches and the length as 5.5 inches.
