Hi @PC-PLUS,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding double-sided printing alignment issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Paper Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper size and type settings in your print dialog match the actual paper you are using. Sometimes misconfigurations can lead to alignment issues.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers.

Printer Alignment:

  • Perform an alignment of the printer from the printer's control panel or through HP's printer software. This can often correct misalignment issues on your prints.

Adjust Print Settings:

  • In your print setup dialog, double-check the "Two-Sided (Duplex) Printing" settings. You might try adjusting the duplex margin settings if available.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, printer firmware updates can resolve known issues. Check HP's website or the HP Support Assistant for available updates.

Paper Handling:

  • Ensure the paper is properly loaded in the tray. Misalignment can occur if the paper guides are not snugly adjusted to fit the paper.

Recalibrate the Printer:

  • If you have access to HP's software utilities, perform a calibration task to ensure everything is accurately set.

Test Print:

  • Try printing a test page or document. Check if manual alignment adjustments need to be made on your second page settings.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your response Kuroi_Kenshi
I have done all of what you have suggested and still have problems.
I wonder if this is all together a mechanical problem as in the ADF failing to pull the paper to the right place when the paper has been turned over to the second side to do the printing and will be cleaning the pick up rollers to see if that makes any difference.
Thanks for your advice.
Best regards

Hi @PC-PLUS,

Thanks for the update, and you're absolutely right, mechanical factors like worn or dirty rollers can contribute to duplex misalignment.

Here are a few additional steps to try:

Reset the Printer:

Turn the printer on.

Disconnect the power cable from the printer (while it's still on).

Unplug the cable from the power outlet.

Wait for 60 seconds.

Plug everything back in and power it on.

Print from Another Application or File Type:
Try printing a two-sided document from a different application (like Notepad or WordPad) to check if the misalignment persists. This helps rule out software-related causes.

Try Different Paper:
Sometimes the thickness or texture of the paper can affect how it's pulled through during duplexing. Try a fresh pack of high-quality standard A4 paper.

I hope this helps.
