When I try to print from and email or recipe, etc. I have to save as a PDF first.  I never used to have to do that and I don't want to do it now.  How do I change that.

Browser printing requires that the printer is installed on the device (computer, tablet, phone).

Installation generally includes a printing application or software that identifies and connects to the printer.

-- Windows --

If the "problem" surfaced directly after an update -- or possibly even if no updates were applied -- check the Default Printer and the Printer Properties Driver assignments -- ensure the settings are as expected and needed.

=============================

Windows - Default Printer

Preparation > Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers and scanners

Scroll down to section Printer preferences

Windows protected mode = "Set up"  (equals "not configured")

Default install printers using Windows Ready Print = OFF

and

Switch OFF Let Windows manage my default printer

Scroll up > Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Set as Default

Default_Printer_Check_and_Manage_6 - Sept 2026

=================================

 -- Windows -- Printer Properties

Windows 10

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on Printer > Printer Properties > Tab Advanced

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Select Printer

Printer Properties > Tab Advanced

  • Driver:  Select the HP driver as opposed to the Microsoft / IPP class driver
  • Reprint later:  Select Keep all documents
  • All Jobs Default:  Printing Defaults

-- Example - Printer Properties -- Driver / Printing Defaults --

① → Driver

 → Optional - Printing Defaults

Printer_Properties_Reprint_20

Next,

-- What else? --

When Browser printing suddenly stops working -- or fails to produce the expected results -- check the Destination, that is, the "Printer" that is assigned in the print settings.

Examples - Firefox - Browser Printing

Firefox_Print_Local_File_Scale_1

Open Browser and file to be printed  ① → ②

Next,

Print Settings  Destination

Firefox_Print_Web_Page_11
