Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e All-in-One Printer

I have been having trouble with slow printing for quite some time now. I've discovered that if I print through "HP Smart Printing", such as from a Word document or email, the printer takes an excessive amount of time (upwards of 15 minutes for one page, even worse when printing pictures). The option to print directly to the "HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e" also exists for me, which makes it much faster. I feel, however, that I ought to be able to use HP Smart to print from various sources. And even still, printing directly to the printer can be finicky. Do I need to update my driver? Is there something wrong with the graphics card of my computer (for reference, it is an Alienware gaming laptop)? How do I speed up my printing?
