Hi @Brenduh,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Photosmart A646 Compact Photo Printer is not turning on even though the power light is illuminated when you plug it in, there could be a few potential issues to troubleshoot.

  • Power Source: Ensure that the power source you're using is functioning properly. Try plugging the printer into a different outlet or using a different power cord if possible to rule out any issues with the power source.
  • Power Cord Connection: Check that the power cord is securely plugged into both the printer and the power outlet. Sometimes, a loose connection can prevent the printer from turning on.
  • Printer's Power Button: Make sure you're pressing the power button correctly. Some printers require you to press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn them on. Refer to the printer's manual for specific instructions on powering it on.
  • Printer's Power Supply: If you've ruled out issues with the power source and connection, there might be an issue with the printer's internal power supply.
  • Reset the Printer: Try resetting the printer by unplugging it from the power source, waiting for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues with the printer's electronics.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hey Alden ,

I’ve tried all those things. I don’t know if i need to order a new power source or even if there’s a warranty or anything like that.
