Problem Setting Up POS Printer A799-C80E-HP00

Hi,

Turns out that this is the most user unfriendly POS printer ever!

All I am trying to do is change the default IP address to match my network.  Page 11 of the manual talks about the Ethernet Settings with the following:

"For the printer to operate with Ethernet, a series of commands must be set within the printer. These commands can only be set through the host computer and are not configurable through the printer configuration menu."

Then another paragraph below it saying:

"These settings can not be changed through the configuration menu and must be set by sending commands from the host. See Ethernet setup commands on page 35. "

Then page 35 shows the commands and states:

"The following commands are designed to set the required printer internal parameters for Ethernet operation.  The commands can only be used in the Flash download (boot) mode (1B 5B 7D)."

So my problem is there is no mention or instructions of "How to send commands to printer" nor any mention anywhere on the internet of "How to enable/start/get into Flash download (boot) mode!"

Please could someone give me some clear instructions on how to change the printer IP for this printer.

Its linked directly via ethernet to my laptop, I have configured my laptop IP to the same network.  I can ping the printer.  So ready to send data show how to change IP.
